Rage, Rage Against the Dying of the Light (Private)

Now that they weren't stressing out as heavily, that grin of Crane's was infectious and made him look so much more attractive. And that chuckle. Her cheeks heated and she focused on the viral and goon to try and keep from focusing on it - she definitely didn't want to draw attention to it! Still, the praise was appreciated, and her grin widened. "Thanks!

She looked to him as he spoke further and nodded, shifting her hand to grab at one of her longer weapons. It was meant to keep the infected at a safer distance then say, the carpenter hammer she'd been using, and with how wriggly the virals could get, she didn't want to risk a secret getting out. Lil had no idea how he'd react to her healing factor, and she certainly didn't want it getting to Rais. "Sounds like a plan."

The woman shifted and made her way partly down the wall before using her weight and gravity to drop down on the viral that was trying to scramble up the wall toward them. Of course, the landing pushed the air from her lungs for a split second, but she managed to bring the bladed weapon down on its head, slicing through it far easier then she'd expected. Well, shit!

She stumbled forward thanks to residual momentum, quickly catching herself and spinning around to assess where other threats were. It wasn't the most graceful landing, and she was definitely covered in more viscera then she'd intended, but in survival situations, that'd happen, right?

Though he wanted to keep an eye on Lil, he had to trust that she had her part under control. They'd not really known each other long - he'd seen her in the Tower, especially helping Lena out, but that was the extent of it. Ships passing in the night. He liked her smile and personality. Plus she was cute. Might have to get to know her a bit more.

But that'd wait til after he'd dealt with the goon. He took careful aim with a trio of throwing knives, before fanning them out and chucking them at the same time. It was a technique he didn't use often, but it was valuable even if they missed their exact mark.

The goon roared in pain, stumbling backward as one hit its shoulder and the other two flew wide and nicked its side and the other dug in just above the knee. Crane took advantage of the momentary stun to grab a two hander that gave him more distance, then hopped down to jab at the creature.

Just in time too, as the goon had straightened up and focused in on Lil. "Hey!" He shouted at it, hurling a hammer at its nose. Another roar of pain and then it was staggering around to face him, dragging the rebar his direction. Good. Pay attention to me, asshole.

Gripping the cobbled together weapon that was a cross between a spear and an axe, he began to swing at the fucker, getting a good few hits in. Depending on how tired he got, and how fast Lil managed to off the viral, he might go for ranged with the crossbolt.

As the woman turned, her hazel eyes widened as she saw the goon slowly turning to face her. Uh oh. Without thinking, she jumped back and away, her heel catching on the clothes of one of the now truly deceased infected they'd roasted. The smell of burnt flesh made her gag a little, but she swallowed it back, even as her ass hit the pavement.

Again, the air was knocked from her lungs, but before she could really worry about the goon, Crane had called out to it, drawing its attention away from her. That was way too close a call for her liking. The scrape of concrete on concrete agitated her teeth, but she ignored the sensation and scrambled back up to her feet. With her target dealt with, she no longer needed to stay on the ground. Instead, she turned and scrambled back up the side of the building they'd just left and waited up top. Quickly, she reached around and brought her crossbow around, glancing at it.

Good. It was already loaded. Lil watched Kyle with interest and curiosity, enjoying watching him work through the problem before she brought the crossbow up and aimed at the goon's head. It roared, and it took all her control to not laugh at the hatchet lodged in its head or the knife doing the same. It looked vaguely like a hedgehog. She steadied her aim and for a moment, held her breath as she pulled the trigger. Thunk!

He continued to size up the Goon, swiping at the thing's neck. Fastest way to deal with one of the fuckers was to take its head clean off. Not easy to do with a biter or viral, let alone something as big as a goon. And forget trying it with anything else, unless you wanted to risk more than just getting infected yourself.

Two swipes left it staggered, and then Lil hit it with a crossbow bolt, throwing it further off balance. He took full advantage of it, lashing out with the blades on his weapon, slicing clean through one arm, though it didn't bring the thing to its knees like he'd hoped.

The groan it gave that time was a bit different, and he could tell they'd done enough damage to start shutting its functions down. "Keep it up Lil! Just a bit more and the bastard's down and out."

Things suddenly took a turn, with the goon using its remaining arm to swing wildly in Crane's direction with the rebar. Well that isn't good. He grimaced and ducked and weaved as he watched for an opening.

Damn. The thing didn't fall, despite the excellent hit. She quickly shuffled through the small quiver at her hip and pulled out another bolt and seated it. She pulled back on the wire until it clicked into place and eyed up the two dancing around each other in the street below. She didn't want to accidentally hit Kyle - that wouldn't do well at all. Vaguely, she heard Ayo asking for an update, but now wasn't the time for one.

With a powerful swing, Kyle took off one of the beast's arms, and though it roared with pain, it still didn't fall to its knees in defeat. She cursed quietly and took aim. Movement caught her eye and she quickly turned her crossbow to the source, focusing on it. Staggered steps, drooped shoulders, dangling arms. Infected. She fired off a shot before it could lock-on to her companion. This one did drop like a brick, however. Thank whoever was up there. She pulled another bolt from her quiver and seated it again, her eyes going back to the goon and Kyle. She held it up to aim again, taking a deep breath and holding it to steady her shot. She pulled the trigger and cursed when it wasn't a headshot, but instead hit the chest. "Dammit."

Lil took care of another biter that had made its way toward them, the noise having drawn it in. Rolling his shoulders as they started to ache due to the exertion, he continued to dance around the Goon. His companion had taken another shot at it, though the body shot only slowed it down.

He stalked toward it, flicking the blood off his weapon, gripping the long pole that kept him at a somewhat safer distance from the massive infected. "Over here, asshole!" The shout was not normally something he'd do, but the last bolt had drawn the thing's attention, and it'd started to turn away from him again.

As he shouted at it, he jabbed the sharp tip of the blades into the being, then dragged down and to one side, ripping massive gashes into its flesh. Another roar of pain and it staggered, trying to right itself and follow after him.

Okay. Attention got. Now to finish it. He slashed upward and to the right, dragging the blades through the thing's thick neck. They stuck at first, forcing him to grip the weapon's long handle tighter so he could finish decapitating it.

Link to comment

"You got this, Kyle!" The small woman grinned from where she stood, knocking another bolt into her crossbow as she watched him work from up close to the enemy. And then the creature slowly turned to face her, and her eyes widened, even if she knew it couldn't reach her - it was still terrifying having something so massive turn its attention to her.

And then, once again, the mercenary (though she didn't actually know that's what he was) got the goon's attention and sliced a thorough gash into the creature's torso. Blood gushed everywhere, and her eyes widened for a completely different reason. She pulled the bolt back until it clicked into place, readying for another shot, but it looked like the thing was almost done.

Lil cheered, jumping up and down in excitement with another grin. The man swung again, and his weapon stuck for a moment in the goon's neck before he finally finished it off, its head rolling off somewhere between the houses. "Woo!"

Link to comment

The cheering and smile earned a wide smile back, and he chuckled, though he was definitely starting to notice the pain and breathlessness. "Good job on that. Let's get back to the Tower, so you can show Lena in person you're all right. I heard her and the others on the radio yelling before we bumped into each other."

Breathing heavily, he bent over and panted for a few moments, then saw a bit of movement in the distance. Time to get up high. He didn't waste time, just jumped up to grab the window ledge nearest him, and scrambled up to the roof next to Lil. Now somewhat safer, he allowed himself to double over again, wheezing a bit as he did so. "Jesus, I'm getting old if that winded me."

The gripe wasn't real, more of a way to joke around and lighten the mood. He let out a deep sigh, then straightened up. Time to get moving, before their lingering drew more attention. "Well, back to the tower now, unless you had something else you needed to do for someone out here...?"

Link to comment

Oh, she definitely liked that wide smile he shot her way, and once again her cheeks went pink, this time from him calling her out on worrying those back at the Tower. She swallowed hard and cleared her throat, but mercifully he was distracted by his own breathlessness. He'd worked himself hard, so she wasn't surprised. His head snapped up before he jumped for a window ledge under her, and she scrambled to put her crossbow away to help pull him up.

"Oh, stop it." She playfully swatted at his shoulder when he called himself old. He couldn't have been more then a half dozen years older then her, but then again, that was something she'd noticed that she sucked at. She let a pout cross her features briefly before it was gone again as he straightened up. "Yeah, no. I was on my way back to the Tower anyways when we heard that survivor scream."

Such a midwestern way to say it, but she had no idea about that - it was just how it came out of her mouth. She gestured over her shoulder with her thumb in the general direction the survivor had been in the first place as she looked up at him. She hated being short. It was then she realized something very important. She held out her hand for him to shake. "I'm Lil, by the way. At least, that's what Rahim calls me. And everyone else."

Link to comment

"Nice to meet you, Lil," Crane replied, shaking her hand in return, his dark eyes studying her now that they weren't nearly as in danger as before. "I'm Kyle. Though you'll likely hear most folks here refer to me as Crane. Occasionally one of 'em slips up and calls me 31 still but what can you do?"

He was amused at her swatting at his arm for his grump about being too old, but had wanted to get his own introduction back done first. Now that he'd done so... "And I am old. I'm 36, nearly 37."

Her way of speaking reminded him of back home, as did her accent. He wondered if he'd get out of this one okay. He'd not expected to get infected, after all. The longer he worked to try and help the Tower the more he felt like the GRE would rather he died after getting their file back. An eerie feeling, that. Their insistence on him setting things up to get to Rais was unsettling, at the very least and he worried about how far they'd want him to go.

"I'm done too, at least for now," he commented, glancing around them with his hands on his hips. He had a lot to do, but he did have time enough to finish them once he'd swung by the tower to check in on everything there.

Kyle Crane. Though she had no memories beyond some esoteric basics (like how to tuck herself when she landed after a jump to disperse the force of impact or how to use a bow), the name struck her as familiar. Maybe it was because he was newer to their little 'home' and she'd already heard his name over the radio? Something to ponder later. His grip was sure and strong, confident as he shook her hand. Lil was all too aware of him looking her over and a part of her siezed up at his age. He was out of her league, if what stared back at her in the mirror was any indication. No way someone as handsome as him was single, let alone interested in a 20-something like her. Still, she grinned.

"Oh, you're just so old. Totally. You need a walker? Or a cane?" She teased as she looked around, double checking they were safe. Some habits she didn't understand, such as constantly checking her six or preferring her back to a wall or just out of line of sight of a window, but they kept her safe, so it wasn't something to keep concerned about right now. Her eyes sparked with excitement when he told her he was done for now as well. "Beat you to the tower!"

The woman took off like a shot across the roof tops, back in the direction of the Tower, their bastion of safety and their 'temporary' home. She'd seen how he'd worked the rooftops and building sides, and it was impressive, so maybe he would actually beat her to the skyscraper, but she had to try, that was for sure. She scrambled as her foot didn't land as securely as she'd hoped, causing her to pitch forward as it slipped out from under her. Calloused hands padded across the blue tarp quickly before she could push herself back upright and she spun around, grinning back at him. "Come on, slowpoke!"

Link to comment

He snorted as she teased him about being so old. He was though, compared to all the young 20-somthings in the tower. Lena, Brecken, and a couple others were older though. So he wasn't entirely alone. When she challenged him to a race back to the tower he chuckled, though watched with concern as she didn't quite land the first jump as smoothly as she'd probably have liked.

Once she called to him again, he nodded, took a couple steps backward, and leapt across to a different rooftop that he had spotted. It made for a better start for him, but they did have slightly different free-running styles.

In the far distance he could hear virals hollering, but they were clearly not coming their direction, so he'd ignore them for now. If anything decided to cause issues though? A throwing knife through the forehead ought to take care of it.

"You're on," he called to her, also taking off, laughing as he did so. He knew fun was rare to come by in Harran, so any chance he had to lighten the load others bore was fine with him. And he always did like a race.

Link to comment

As soon as she saw him leap through the air to a rooftop closer to him, she spun and ran with a giggle of excitement. Adrenaline ran high through her system, pushing her on, and she almost felt like a deer, bounding from surface to another with minimal pause. Her brain worked hard to keep her movements plotted one step ahead so she didn't fall to the ground and hurt herself. Hearing him laugh, though. Unf. Her own laughter bubbled up and let loose into the sky, blending with the screams of nearby virals.

That tempered Lil's excitement slightly, and she swept her gaze around briefly when she next landed, and when she didn't see any immediate danger, she took off again, launching herself toward a building and hoisting herself up from window sill to ledge, then hauled herself up to the roof with a slight amount of trouble. Running and jumping? She could do that. Pulling her own weight up by her arms? That was a bit more of a struggle. She panted, glancing back to where she'd last seen Crane, and once assured he was OK, she took off for the smaller row of houses that ran parallel to the stairs leading up to the Tower.

Bounce. Bounce. Bounce. Her sneakers rhythmically tapped across the metal rooftops, and she once more stopped and turned to look back, this time waiting for him. She took the time to tap her radio. "Lil here. Almost back to the tower."

"That's a relief." Lena responded after a brief bout of static. In the background, she could hear their fearless leader mutter something about 'damn time' but she ignored it, her eyes sharp as she looked around for threats.

Link to comment

She was fast - he'd give her that much, but she hadn't had the military training he had, nor had she been out and about in the city as much, if he recalled right. Still, she clearly had talent and some skill, and it wouldn't take long for her to become a good scout or runner, provided she could convince Brecken, Rahim, Jade, and Lena.

She'd been thrown off just a bit by the virals, though he couldn't blame her. They still threw him off a bit, though he'd chosen to ignore them this time. He had so much he needed to do, and yet not enough time to do it and really get a good feel for everyone. He was already getting attached to everyone in the tower, and he knew that his slight hesitation was annoying the GRE.

Her own pause, to radio in and wait for him was a bad call on her part as he came flying past her, running along the roof of an adjacent building. "You keep pausing, I'm gonna win by default, Lil!" He wasn't sure if his voice carried through on her radio, but winced in case it did. He sounded a bit too happy, despite the situation they were in.

On the other hand, maybe finding fun wherever he could and encouraging others to do the same would be a welcome addition to the Tower. He wasn't sure. Either way though... he pushed himself a bit harder forward, leaping over the last few rooftops to make it to the Tower, though he didn't stop until he was at the entrance, then turned and waited for Lil to catch up.

And to make sure she was all right on her way. He wouldn't put it past a viral to just suddenly show up last minute and spoil their fun. "My turn to call you a slowpoke now!"

Link to comment
Without stopping, the man blew right past her, and if she didn't know better, she could have sworn she almost felt a breeze with his passing. She blinked, all thoughts of fairness and making sure he made it back in one piece with her dove out the window as her brain tried to process what just happened. "Hey!"

She turned on her heels and sprinted after him, and another laugh made its way out of her mouth, but she put on an extra burst of speed to try and catch up. She wasn't too far behind him, and he too paused, waiting for her at the entryway to their home base. She didn't slow down, and instead pushed harder, rushing past him this time with a defiant, "Ha!"

Technically, she was the winner, but she didn't stop, using her continued momentum to round the corner and partly run up the wall that led to the first floor proper, where guards waited with firearms in case anything unseemly made it through. Small fingers latched onto the edge and she hoisted herself up, her momentum being a boon in this instance as she rolled and squatted by the edge to wait for him, her smile wide and meeting her eyes. She held a hand out to help him up once he caught up, giggling at the good kind of adrenaline rush passing through her system. "I still won!"
Link to comment

Aaaand she paid him back in kind. Served him right, he thought with amusement. Turning on his heel, he followed after her, and took the hand she offered to get up to the first floor of the base. "I deserved that," he admitted with a chuckle.

Taking a moment to glance around and see if any new faces had shown up, or if anyone had any requests for him. Didn't see anything or anyone to start, so he quirked a brow at Lil and nodded toward the shop. "We should stop in there and see if there's anything new we can use, then go upstairs so everyone can see you're fine."

He hoped the vendor had something other than the various firearms he kept trying to push onto him. Kyle had already purchased a pistol, shotgun, and rifle and had upgraded them himself, and he had no intention of getting anything else, unless he found something different enough from those, and that he could get a silencer on.

"You hoping for anything in particular if you head over there with me?"

With all her surprising strength, she still lost her balance and fell on her butt, giggling still at the thrill of the run they'd just done. She finally pushed herself to her feet, dusting herself off before waving to people she knew. She then turned her hazel eyes to the man who escorted her back to the Tower and gave a half smile, her chest mildly heaving. Lil nodded at his suggestion, before laughing a little. "Yeah, before they come find me themselves."

She paused, tilting her head to the side slightly as she thought about his question. Without even thinking about it, her feet started moving her toward the shop in question. She finally shot back over her shoulder before she completely forgot to answer him. "Not entirely sure. I need more materials for molotovs at least. You?"

Now that he wasn't being a grumpy pants, he was really attractive to her, especially when he laughed and smiled. She wanted to get to know him, but already, there were people around also wanting his attention. He was making a hell of an impression, and she was glad for it! It gave Kyle a chance to be looked after as much as he looked after others. It just also meant he was in high demand, so she needed to make their little time together count.

Link to comment

Crane shrugged. "There's a couple things I'd like. Kinda hoping for some electronics so I can rig some of my weapons up with shocks. Shit for molotovs wouldn't be bad either though. Mostly I just need to top off rations, bullets, and maybe get some more batteries for the radios."

Seemed like he'd just been overlooked when he first stepped back in the tower because good God, so many demands and he'd barely gotten in the first doorway to the store. He waved at those trying to get his attention already, indicating he'd be with them in a minute.

"Uh. Looks like I might have requests for errands after this. You want me to head up and see if I can help up there as well? I gotta swing by anyway and drop off a few of the things I found while out, then I gotta go see about this Rais guy. He really that bad?"

Link to comment

Almost as soon as they stepped into the hallway that led to the shop, Crane was swamped with requests and as she looked around, Lil could see others ruminating over something or other - probably with problems that needed dealt with but they had no way to do it themselves. She threw her hands up and waved them to get people's attention. "Guys! We just got back! Give Crane a minute to offload what he's got!"

She highly doubted many were going to listen to her, but it was worth a shot. The small woman grabbed Crane's hand and tugged him over to the shop keep so he could do what he needed before she turned back to him and their conversation. "You've proven capable, and from what I heard, Spike's vouched for you, and since he's backed you, a lot of people are gonna want your help too... so you're gonna be busy for a while yet."

Lil wished others thought her that capable, but her size and lack of memory made it near impossible for some to want her to leave the tower. They, herself included, had no idea what she could and couldn't do, but that deep down, rooted in her soul need to help gnawed at her, not letting her sit still and listen to those that worried about her. When Rais was mentioned, her face went pale and her body stiffened. "Rais is a bad, bad man, Kyle. What the hell are you needing to do that involves anything relating to that monster in a human skin?"

Strong words, and she meant every single one of them as she met his eyes full on. Despite her not remembering much if anything, the intelligence and compassion and concern for this man she just met not even a half hour earlier were clear in terra cotta colored eyes. Of course, she had no idea that they had shifted to a more reddish color - when she looked in the mirror, she saw sunken, tired hazel or brown eyes with sometimes a hint of green sprinkled in for variety.

Link to comment

He was glad that Lil was there to shoo them off, at least temporarily. While he was glad to help, it was more than a bit overwhelming when everyone tried to get his attention at the same time. He supposed she was right though - with Spike vouching for him now, others would want their things dealt with as well and from what he was gathering there were few too few scouts to handle it.

The shift of her expression when he mentioned Rais had him on high alert. So far everyone was either scared of him, hated him, or both it seemed. Definitely not somebody to underestimate.

"Believe me, if I could get away without having to deal with him, I would. But Brecken's getting desperate. Our antizin stocks are very low, his airdrop was stolen after he took a beating, and then the two I went after last night were a bust too. Rais' goons got to the first one and the second had a few basic supplies."

Crane gave a helpless shrug. "It was either me going or Brecken himself going, and I couldn't let him go when they know him so well."

He glanced back out the door at the impatient faces waiting for him there. Great. "Almost done here, then I can see what everyone wants."

Link to comment

She tisked at the fact he was going to face that madman and shook her head. She remembered the state Brecken was in - he shouldn't have been even out of bed, but the stubborn man was trying to provide for everyone under his care, like a decent human being. Her and Lena both had tried convincing him to stay in bed, or to at least take it easy, but the man hadn't listened. "Yeah, I know the state Brecken's in. I was helping Lena take care of him when he stumbled his way in."

She dug out her own valuables to sell that she'd found, accepting the currency in turn before handing some back in exchange for what she needed. She took a moment to calm her frantic heart. She didn't want Kyle going, least of all on his own, but what was she supposed to do? Lil paused and looked up at Kyle as a thought struck her, "did you get the anti-seizure meds Lena asked for from Gazi, by the way? Or have you not done that yet?"

They really needed those for their fearless leader. She tucked her things away, waiting to put her pack back on while she waited his answer. An idea was forming in her head, since she had an inkling on what half the folks gathered around wanted. Some of them would need more then one set of hands to bring back the supplies. "I can run it up to Lena if you'd rather not deal with her right now?"

Link to comment

She confirmed she was aware of Brecken's current state, which meant talking to her was easier - he wouldn't have to dance around multiple things, just the real reason he was there. Though the longer he interacted with the Tower's inhabitants the less he wanted to do what the GRE told him to. They'd already ordered him to do something he found morally reprehensible.

"Yeah, he's an asshole when he needs rest but refuses. Not that I can say much. I'm made from the same cloth." He shook his head and sighed again, then addressed her question. "I have. And honestly? Going up there gets me away from most of the ones who want to pull me in every direction."

He was keeping his voice down, as he didn't really want to offend anyone or hurt anyone's feelings. He just needed a goddamn break and a good rest so he was at his best for helping everyone. Neither of those were likely though. Ugh.

"I met Gazi. If mama ain't happy, nobody happy, right?"

Kyle chuckled at the memory. It'd pissed him off at the time, but now he was grateful for the lightheartedness of the meeting. He'd needed it, what with all the stress he'd found himself buckling under mere hours after waking up in the Tower.

Link to comment

Her eyes narrowed at him when he admitted to being cut from the same cloth as Brecken. He was going to be trouble, if that was true. Still, she couldn't help but smile softly when he wanted to go up with her. She finished tucking her new materials into her pack carefully and hoisted the bag back up on her shoulders, looking up at him again. He dwarfed her, and that just added to 'Safe'. "So... someone's gotta stick with you to keep you out of trouble is what you're saying."

Her gaze softened though, as she picked up on just how tired and overwhelmed the newcomer was with all the requests being thrown at him. Not only had he been vouched for, but a lot of their runners were now dead thanks to that abysmal run. It'd been a hell of a plan, but luck hadn't been with them once the stars came out. "I get it - doesn't help we're shorthanded now, what with last night..."

She jerked her head toward the door to indicate she was ready to go and to quietly tell him where they needed to go. Her thumbs hooked behind the backpack straps for wont of something to do with them so she didn't gesticulate like she wanted to. As she studied him, she noted the exhaustion in his eyes, the tenseness to his shoulders, and the tightness of his jaw. How much had he been running himself ragged? She chuckled though, snapping her out of her assessment.

"If mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy, yeah." She said at the same time he did, shaking her head in amusement at the poor man who had somehow managed to survive so far. She was glad the stubborn man had made it so far. "Come on. Let's go get this to Lena before she kills our fearless leader."

Link to comment

The way she narrowed her eyes at him earned a chuckle, but he didn't acknowledge it further. She was one of the medics, he knew that much, as he'd seen her working with Lena, and it was Lena who kept calling after her the most when they'd been outside the trailer.

Once they were in the elevator, he finally spoke. "I guess you could try. We're too short on runners and scouts though, so solo work has been the name of the game. And... I usually work better alone. Usually. Been a bit of a different case here, due to the infected."

The comment about their leader getting himself killed by his own girlfriend wasn't too far off the mark. Lena was angry with him, so angry she'd told Crane things that might not have been shared otherwise. But someone needed to know, and he'd been able to get around better, despite being one of the newest in the Tower.

"Yeah. She wasn't happy with him. Hopefully these meds will help somewhat. Once I've dropped them off I need to see if anyone has some energy drinks they'll trade me or see about getting some coffee. I'm so damn tired and I need to be quick on my feet."

Link to comment

"Usually being the keyword here?" She quirked her lips to the side in a half smile for a brief second as the doors to the elevator creaked and rattled shut. She leaned against the wall to get some of her weight off her feet indirectly. She was trying to hide it, but she was exhausted too. As far as Lil knew, she wasn't used to running around like this, even though it was so very familiar but just behind a pane of glass, there but out of reach. "But if you don't want me coming with, then I'll probably stay at the Tower the rest of the day."

Maybe. Big, big maybe. Maybe she'd stay put, or maybe she'd overhear Lena quietly complain about something else they were needing and Lil would slip out into the streets and get it for the overworked doctor. It was the least the woman could do as thanks for all Lena had done for her since she'd arrived.

"Given they're siezures caused by a different source then the virus, the medicine should help more then if it was because of this damned virus." How she knew this, she didn't know, but it was stashed somewhere in the muddled mess of an attic she called a brain, clearly. She glanced up at the tired man as he hoped someone had an energy drink or some coffee, and a thought started brewing in her head. She pushed off the wall, folding her arms over her chest as she did. "Or you can take a nap and I'll keep the others from bugging you?"

Neither of those drinks were a good substitute for proper sleep, especially with the strain he put on his body since he got there. If she needed to, she'd 'pull rank' so to speak. Before she could think about it much more, though, the elevator dinged as they reached their floor.
