A multi-genre is a site that hosts an infinite number of games. There are forums for major genres [and more can be added if enough people request one] and one specifically for fandom-based plots. People can bring in any character they want to write, canon or original, and find others to write with here. We also have a section for mini-games, which are basically like a full blown site rp, but contained within a forum and a few sub-forums the creator [and members of their choice] are given mod powers over. Explain the mini-games a bit more? Well, there's a lot of information on them and how to set them up in the plotting forum, but basically you need 3 people [including yourself] interested. You'll fill out a form requesting the game that includes a name for it, any co-mods you want, and you can set it up however you like from there, so long as it falls within our main ruleset. There are some questions on the player profile I don't want to answer - I feel they're unneeded. If it's contact info [IM clients/etc.] you are welcome to leave them blank. Anything beyond that and we'll need you to fill it out. You can simply give us an online alias and your age for the about me section if you don't want to share, but we do encourage you to give us a bit more because it's far easier to find writing partners if you include those details. The other things, regarding content warnings, age, and the like do need to be filled out. What if I want to join but am not 18? You'll have to wait til you turn 18. It's against the rules and against the law - we have 18+ content, therefore members must also be 18+. What will you do if you find someone under 18? We ban them immediately. We do not tolerate minors trying to access adult material - as stated above it's against the law and our rules. What if someone over 18 knowingly participates on the site with a minor? They'll be banned. We have the rules there for a reason and it is against the law. If the person owns a mini-game we'll see if they have any mods or others who can take over running the game [if a fandom based one]. If it's an original the game will, unfortunately, be shut down. What kind of characters are off limits? We don't have any character types off limits, really. You're welcome to create whatever you'd like. There is one exception to this, however. Characters created just to offend, harass, or otherwise hurt someone are not allowed. Please note, this does not include characters who hold awful views or beliefs in character - just characters created specifically to cause problems OOC. How much experience would you like members to have? We don't have requirements here - you can have any amount of experience and be welcome. Please do be aware that the staff are not equipped to be able to walk beginners to forum or play by post RP through the process. If you're unsure, check out our IPB beginner's guide. If you need further help, we recommend looking up Caution 2.0, RPG Initiative, or RPG-D for guides and help. Please note that there may be further expectations in the mini-games as we do not set the rules in those. How would you label the site? All experience levels welcome, simple as that. Just be prepared to do a bit of research and reading if you're brand new and need help - there are resources you'll need to read over here and potentially on the sites listed in the previous question. What is the standard length, perspective, and tense for posts? There are no set standards - everything is welcome here, so long as your writing partners are all right with it. The mini-games may have rules about this, but that's up to each individual game. Can we request sub-boards? Genre boards can be requested, but we won't add new ones unless we receive requests from at least 5 different people. The new genre will be introduced on a trial basis, and if it sees at least a few posts a month, we'll keep it. As far as mini-games go, they are not allowed more sub-boards than we list as available in the planning forum info. Please check that out for details. Is there an ICC? Not at this time, but we are not opposed to introducing one if there is enough demand for it. Please note that if we do introduce one, it must stay OOC drama free and friendly or we'll remove it. What is the character limit? There's no limit. You can create as many characters as you like. As this is a 1x1 geared site, canons who are claimed can have duplicates from other players. Do you have activity checks? We don't have an actual activity check, but more of a 'member check in' every other month. All we need to see is that the parent [OOC] account has been logged into at least once in that two month period and the account is safe. If it's not been logged into we'll move it into a 'deactivated' membergroup. Any character accounts will be moved to an 'archived' group. If the account is still inactive by the time the next check in comes around, then we'll delete the account and attached characters. Can I personify a canon instead of writing the standard version? You can do whatever you'd like with canons as long as you're in the main fandom genre board - each thread [or set of threads] is its own world, so you're in complete control there. If you're in a mini-game, you'll need to check with the mod of that game to be sure it's okay. Can we play OCs from fandoms? Original characters from fandom worlds are more than welcome in the main fandom genre board. As with the last question, if it's in a mini-game you'll have to check with the mod who runs it. I want my OC to have a connection to a canon, but the writer said no. We won't force anyone to write a ship [romantic or otherwise] with anyone they don't want to. What we recommend is that you ask other members who write that canon. If no one is interested, post up a want ad for them so you can do your plot. If this happens in a mini-game, please take it up with the mod of that game as they have have the final say, not us. There's someone onsite I won't write with. What should I do? We won't force anyone to write together. If you don't want to write with someone, you aren't required to. Just decline their requests to write if they ask. You can always place a member on ignore if you need to. A side note - we will step in and remove them if they have stalked, bullied, harassed, or otherwise made anyone feel unsafe. We take the safety and comfort of our members seriously, but we must do so fairly - we cannot act without proof. I have a canon-mate who refuses to write or discuss anything with me. What should I do? FInd someone else who plays that particular canon - we do not force anyone to write with each other. If you really want a plot, post up a request for that canon and advertise it on the resource sites til you get someone to claim them. There are AU ideas that canon-mates are playing out/using that I don't agree with. Can I make them change the headcanon or ship? Nope. As each thread/group of threads is its own world, what they do doesn't affect you and what you do doesn't affect them. If you're writing together and disagreeing, the best suggestion we have is to compromise or stop writing with them if it bothers you enough to want them to change it. This applies to headcanons as well as AU ideas. The only time we'll step in is if something is genuinely offensive or harmful. If it's in a mini-game, please take it up with the mod of the group - we don't control what happens in the group. If it is offensive and isn't fixed by going to the mod, then come to us. Can I play a duplicate or different version of a canon already onsite? Yep! Each thread/set of threads is an individual world, so you can play the same character as someone else. If it's a mini-game, you'll have to ask the mod who runs it. There's already an AU onsite, but I don't like it. Can I do a different AU instead? You're free to write whatever you like, so long as you follow the rules and don't try to force someone else to change their stories. Do you allow animal characters? Yes. We even have a section specifically for animal characters. If you want them to go in other genres than 'animal' we highly recommend turning them into anthropomorphic [bipedal] versions if they're not already [think Disney's Robin Hood, for example]. This is entirely up to the player, but it can be easier to interact with the world if they can manipulate doors/etc. with ease. Another suggestion is giving them a human form they can shift to and from at will. Again, this is player preference but is a way to get around the difficulties of not having opposable thumbs. This is, of course, null if they have magic or other means of manipulating the world around them. Just please keep in mind the hardships such a character would face in a realm where everything is geared for humanoid beings and incorporate it into your bio if you keep them in their natural forms. What can I do if someone is making me uncomfortable with posted content? Are they pressuring you to post that content with them? You can come to an admin if they won't leave you alone about it and we'll help you. This is supposed to be a safe space for everyone. If the posted content is not involving you, we will only get involved if it violates our rules. They must tag content that falls under the content warning rule/list. If they've done this, the best thing you can do is stay out of topics with content that upsets you. We do allow for a variety of content that not everyone is comfortable with, so long as it stays within the rating we've set/our TOS. We do not police what can be written beyond that. If you're ever unsure of something, feel free to ask an admin for clarification. I don't agree with a call the mod of a mini-game made. Can I ask you to change it? Unfortunately, no. We do not get involved in the running of the mini-games beyond ensuring that our rules and the TOS are being followed. If the situation involves that, talk to us and we'll get it sorted for you. If it's pertaining to how the game itself is being run, we won't step in and you'll need to sort it out with them. I don't like how the mods are running a specific mini-game. See the answer directly above this one for mini-games. That's how we handle this too. Can I take a mini-game over? Generally the answer is no. We do have a couple exceptions to that though. If the game's main mod is inactive and you are a co-mod, you can request ownership to be transferred to you/the main mod de-modded. If you are a regular member and any mod is still active, we won't transfer the game to you. The main mod has to have been inactive for 2+ months before we'll consider a transfer for fandom based games. Original games can only be transferred if the mod agreed to that when the game was initially created. A game that has no active mods can be transferred to a member once the mods are deleted off the site - so 4 months. We will never transfer an original game to regular players unless permission to do so was given by the owner at the time the game was created, but fandom games can be granted to someone if a transfer request is submitted and the requirements [inactive mods for 4 months] met. merc
